I need help with a monologue and a song.?

I have to audition to get into the performing arts academy. I have already done shows there in the past so the know me but we now need to perform a monolouge and 20 measures of a song and I need suggestions. I do not have any idea what monolouge to do. I am a 17 year old girl and I usually sing second soprano and I need a song to show off my range.

Depends on what sort of monologue they require.

I'm assuming you're from the states so my knowledge of suitable monologues for your accent and age is fairly limited. However, do have a look at the character of The Jailers Daughter in Shakespeare's "Two Noble Kinsmen" (act 2 scene 4 "Why should I love this gentleman?...")

Don't be put off by the fact its Shakespeare. Its easier than you think and if you are American your accent is closer to how it should be spoken.

As regards the song they're not my area. But as a suggestion maybe Nancy's song " As Long As He Needs Me" from Oliver by Lionel Bart.

Concentrate on your music and ignore the audience entirely. Imagine you're playing to yourself, or to a couple of trusted friends.
Matt has a good idea. Try to control your breathing. Deeply inhale then exhale slowly. Try to do it at the same rhythm. When you do it concentrate on something that you find relaxing - like the beach or a mountain stream or anything where you relax.

pretend like your at home practicing and no one is watching and if that do sent help just dint look at the crowd so much
flex your belly like you got rocks n you're a superhero. if you can't, keep trying :) i'm not even kidding .. it takes concentration and you'll get frustrated with that instead :X

What movie is this from...?

All I can remember is that a family of four (mom, dad, teenage boy, younger sister) go on a vacation. They find this abandoned "ghost town" where the boy finds a video recorder with the tape still in it. He plays the recording: a young woman is crying and saying her final words, then looks offscreen in horror and begins screaming; the tape goes black. The younger sister is now frightened and a parent asks the teen to stop scaring her. Much later in the movie, they are trying to escape a second town where time seems to have stopped (people doing the same things over and over again). As they are trying to leave these ?monsters? are chasing them and their car ends up flipping over off the road. The next scene shows the family in the town, performing the same things over and over again (the teen boy is throwing basketballs through a hoop over and over). The movie ends. So... am I confusing several movies or does anyone recognize this and what it was called?
